Make It Work!

Updated: Jun 20, 2019

Getting started on your goals can be a headache! Between hours spent at work, caring for your household, and your extracurricular activities, staying focused can seem impossible.

Although our daily routines seem difficult to alter, there are opportunities throughout the day that many of of are not taking advantage of.

Think about the amount of time we spend on social media or watching television. If we are honest, there are more hours spent on unproductive activities then we would like to admit.

We tend to get lost scrolling on our phones or indulging in our favorite reality shows. Now, it’s ok to escape our realities for a while, but it is important to be cautious of the time we are spending in activities that are not conducive to our future.

Try this:

Schedule 30-45 min twice a week dedicated to your goals. Replace time spent on your phone or watching television with a task that will get you closer to where you want to be.

Try this for a month. Then try increasing to 1 hour twice a week. Once you are comfortable, continue increasing your hours or days of the week. The more that you practice, the more comfortable you will become with scheduling your productivity.

Make sure to schedule in a calendar or use the reminder setting on your phone. It needs to be taken seriously. Treat this time like the hours you would put in on your job.

In order to create positive change and meet our goals, we have to be committed. It takes practice and persistence. You will be surprised how much you will accomplish making these simple changes!

It helps to reward yourself after meeting your goals or staying on task for a month. Share with friends, go to dinner, buy a new outfit. It’s ok, if you fall short each week, just keep going.

Small steps turn into huge leaps towards success. Get started today!
